Bio =
Sep Friesema = b. 2004, is a multimedia artist, filmmaker, and writer whose practice focuses on creating poetic landscapes that make people more present and curious in the chaos of the present. In her work, she questions the boundaries between humans and nature, you and me, and questions whether these boundaries exist at all, using abstracted human stories.

Sep with honours completed her bachelor’s degree in Moving Image at AKI ArtEZ in 2025 , and her debut short film ‘Graveyard-Notes’ has screened at film festivals such as Go Short and Leiden Shorts and she has also presented work at Rijksmuseum Twente and the IJsselbiënnale.

A Statement =
We have always been wild animals in nature, civility is just a part of that, wisdom is a part of that, beauty is a part of that. Every. Single. Thing. Is alive. If you think we are separate at all, you are wrong.
Yet I can’t deny my thinking mind. That the ocean for this short moment took our shape. For this moment I think it is okay to be ‘me,’ in that knowing of its unreality at least.
That’s how I always float in thought…
Me trying to capture them into these landscapes of senses to make you feel the deep feelings of the world. I’m 20 something and sit and look at how the snow boarders right at my cold wet, sock encased feet. In the November blowing wind.
I share this home with a thousand friends and at dawns break we stand on this bluff of an entire globe and do the conga of finding time to spill and mix our skin soft, night blowing, snow particles that we taste while walking away from the rocks.
No statue can ever comprehend our never not flowing aortas. But I will make them point towards those interiors and exteriors of your body, hoping that you can find the awareness of that wild animal that you are. Those stories are ancient.
