Bio =
[Sep Friesema] (she/they) = When I was 8 I wanted to be an inventor, I imagined worlds, space ships and stories. Now I imagine the landscapes before me, they are horrifying and beautiful. I live as a part within them, writing words in air on a treestump. I like to think I can take my home anywhere, but in The Netherlands, where I was born and live, I first learned how to look at the world with continuous wonder in the face of horror of the destruction of the entire Dutch ecosystem. How we’ve shaped this land… This point I tend to trace all over the world. I was born near the sea and have lived my life along a river. When I touch the water an ocean away I like to think of it as a whole body of water, and how it also smashes against all the places I’ve called home.
My works attempt to show this and other worlds through my real and unreal ways of seeing, and share that with you. There is no scared media.

A Statement =
We have always been wild animals in nature, civility is just a part of that, wisdom is a part of that, beauty is a part of that. Every. Single. Thing. Is alive. If you think we are separate at all, you are wrong.
Yet I can’t deny my thinking mind. That the ocean for this short moment took our shape. For this moment I think it is okay to be ‘me,’ in that knowing of its unreality at least.
That’s how I always float in thought…
Me trying to capture them into these landscapes of senses to make you feel the deep feelings of the world. I’m 20 something and sit and look at how the snow boarders right at my cold wet, sock encased feet. In the November blowing wind.
I share this home with a thousand friends and at dawns break we stand on this bluff of an entire globe and do the conga of finding time to spill and mix our skin soft, night blowing, snow particles that we taste while walking away from the rocks.
No statue can ever comprehend our never not flowing aortas. But I will make them point towards those interiors and exteriors of your body, hoping that you can find the awareness of that wild animal that you are. Those stories are ancient.
